Dr Tan is a staff specialist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and a clinical lecturer at the University of Adelaide. She completed fellowships in neuroanaesthesia and upper GI anaesthesia at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, and regional anaesthesia at the Toronto Western Hospital. Her interests include regional anaesthesia, comfortable patients, medical education, welfare, and making memes.
